Sorry to hear the passing of Gary.. When we were young we would swim at our local pond. (Birch Lake) Condolences to the family. He would just love to tease.
I will never forget the fun we had every afternoon on the way home from school on the bus in 6th grade, coming from Lincoln school;. We would sit in the back & would sing songs together, acapella, songs like, "Happy Together", by the Turtles.
Gary & John LaLond hanged around together & got in trouble with Mr Ginther, our 6th grade teacher, a lot. Gary had a habit of when he was getting yelled at, to just have a big smile & go, "Ummmmmm". One time Mr Ginther was mad at Gary & John & said after yelling at him, "If you give me that ummmm, I'll knock your hear off your shoulders". Gary was wise & remained quiet as Mr Ginther was really mad. The classroom was silent because Mr Ginther was so angry. It was then I made the decision to say, "Ummmmm". The class all looked at me in disbief at what I just did. Mr Ginther had me come to the front of the class, told me to take off my glasses & then, did to me, what he said he'd do to Gary. He hit me in the head, really hard & left the room. I think about the money I could have if that asshole hit me, as a kid today.
Gary was always a good guy & never talked bad about anyone. Always joking around. Never bullied anyone but then, Gary was smaller than most of the class. See you on the other side Gary!
